TOOTH IN COCA-COLA
As a dentist I have heard that Coca-Cola and other soft drinks are not good for your teeth. Granted, the problems with this are the low pH (acidic) plus the carbonation and sugar. If patients insist on drinking these products I recommend rinsing the mouth with water immediately afterwards so that much of the damage in the mouth can be neutralized.
I have heard that if you put an extracted tooth in Coke that it will dissolve it. Well, watch this short video to find out: https://www.minds.com/blog/view/344194382603227136/what-happens-to-a-tooth-if-you-leave-it-in-coca-cola-for-24-hours.
Keep in mind that the conditions in someone’s mouth are different from this demonstration. But the tooth, which is a healthy extracted premolar (probably because the patient is going to get braces and doesn’t have enough room), does not look pretty after 24 hours in the Coke bath. In our visual society having a video can drive home the point that Coke might not be the best thing for you!
