Enamelon: A Helpful Dental Product
I routinely receive updates from periodontists that I work with about procedures and products they use. I recently learned about “Enamelon,” a product with which I was not familiar.
The uses of this product, which is brushed on the teeth, is to help with decay, inflamed gums, and tooth sensitivity. Well, that about covers most of what we want in a dental product.
It contains ACP which stands for “ Amorphous (uncrystallized) Calcium Phosphate.” The helpful part of this is that this product stimulates remineralization of tooth structure. Along with this, the tubules (little pores in the teeth) can become occluded and make the tooth less sensitive.
It contains no sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), no gluten, and no dyes. These are the ingredients that many find toxic and unnecessary. The active ingredient is still stannous fluoride, so if you are avoiding fluoride, this is not the product for you.
One study listed in the national institute of health remarked that this product significantly lowered the net root surface for cancer patients. That is a great help since there is an increase decay rate in patients with cancer and on strong drugs.
This product has not received the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. That does not mean there is anything wrong with it, but the company has not applied for and gone through all of the requirements to gain this level of acceptance.
I personally plan on trying this product.
